Money Poorly Spent

So. Corporations spend millions of dollars per year in advertising, trying to put a positive image of their wares in the minds of potential customers. Presumably, at least some of this money goes toward research on phrases likely to resonate within consumers' minds.

That being said, what in Hell were the marketing folks behind Pace Picante Sauce thinking (or drinking) when they put a recipe on the back label called "Texas Two-Step Chicken"?

Well, it inspired you to talk about it. I've now heard of Pace Picante Sauce where before I hadn't. In other words, the Mae West Theory of Advertising.

probably because the texas two step is a dance that most country and western music lovers who dance...know and love.

not the kind of quick-step associated with foreign travels and unfamiliar water supplies.
